It is not always easy to make a decision, I have always found that process very complicated. I was taught to write pluses on one side or the sheet and minuses on the other. That method however does not always provide a good picture. Some of us have family responsibilites so our decisions are molded by the need to provide and cater for other people’s needs, we cannot just decide for ourselves but need to think about the consecuences to other people. Sometimes we get a ‘gut’ decision, something that sits below our chest and feels either heavy or light, a sign pointing us towards the best decision for us all things considered.
Ultimately, once that decision has been made, we need to look forward and give it our all. Decisions have to make sense to ourselves and cater some of our needs otherwise we might become resentful of others. We cannot please everyone and it is not good trying to either.
Some decisions might cause distress to other people; however, we must remember that our focus and intention is not to cause distress to others but to find what works for us. Often we are brought up to please others; up to a point that is a very nice thing to do, it is nice to have some empathy and be able to meet other people’s needs but this needs to be balanced with meeting our own needs.
When was the last time that you took responsibility for yourself and met our own needs?
