Good morning, we have reached the time of the year when we are pushed to make new year’s resolutions. Mmmm I have always felt it is not quite right for me to make resolutions that I can keep in the middle of winter. I enjoy winter as a time to reflect on the past and extract lessons for the future. I do not quite feel this process has quite finished yet but as spring starts arriving and the days get longer some resolutions will naturally emerge. I have always felt that the key to resolutions is the intention and motivations behind them. It pays off to examine why we are choosing certain targets: is it for us or for other people? I will choose my resolutions based on my circumstances and my personality after having extracted past lessons. That way it is more likely I will achieve them and, if I don’t achieve them, just thinking about why noi will provide me with more insight onto my own weaknesses. Of course some resolutions involve other people and righlty so, some of them can be shared and to attain some of them we will need help. Being a methodically perfectionist Virgo I used to list my resolutions, create a chart, short, medium, long term ones and then add detail. It was like creating a business plan rather than a fluid process emerging from my core. This year I am taking a completely different approach, I am just going to watch needs, wants, desires bubble up to the surface and deal with them as them come. If I have one good wish for all of us is that we keep our balance and perspective, we are realistic but positive and believe that things will improve, that we can find joy inside us and with each other regardless of our external circumstances. Happy New Year!
