Freezing feelings can be a good technique when feelings take the better of us. Sometimes it is better to press the pause button and take time out of a situation rather than react on the spot, It is perfectably acceptable to ask for time to think things through, to give ourselves permission to do nothing for 24 hours, to ‘sleep’ on it, to write it down in our diaires so we can see more clearly. Better that than get caught up in the moment and say things that cannot be taken back and we will regret. After 24 hours the situation might have resolved itself or we may have better clarity and wisdom to deal with it. When was the last time you gave yourself permission to take time out?
